Subject:       Nurse vaccines

Request:

Please can you provide information on the following for the financial years: 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18, 2018/19 (so far).

How many nurses have refused vaccines that include, but are not restricted to, the following Hepatitis B, TB, MMR, Polio, Tetanus, Diphtheria, Hepatits A, Varicella and influenza?

What was the reason for refusing the vaccine(s)?

Please separate the data by each nurse. For the nurse please put a code such as N1, N2 etc.

Response:

Section 12 – cost of compliance exceeds appropriate limit

If a vaccination is declined, a note is made of this decision in the individual’s paper medical/OH records. Unfortunately we do not collect this information in any easily accessible format, such as a database. We have thousands of records and would have to go through each one to identify any nurse who had refused. Therefore we will be unable to provide the information requested due to the cost of compliance.

With regards to the influenza vaccination, we have begun collating refusal this year but will only have figures at the completion of the vaccination program. The influenza vaccination figures are expected to be available at the end of January 2019.
