According to the NHS Trust guidelines, at what PSA level should GPs refer patients for suspected prostate cancer?

  • Are repeated PSA tests required before a referral?

Does the NHS Trust have prostate cancer referral guidelines? If yes, please provide a copy. – Our GPs are encouraged to use the GM 2 WW referral forms for suspected urological cancers which I have attached.
According to the NHS Trust guidelines, at what PSA level should GPs refer patients for suspected prostate cancer? See age-specific ranges in file attached

Does this differ depending on any factor, such as age?

Yes and the presence of a urine infection

Are repeated PSA tests required before a referral?

Ideally yes, if a PSA is raised in the presence of a urine infection. The infection should be treated and PSA repeated 6 weeks later.
