Bolton NHS Foundation Trust has won its bid to continue to provide sexual health services to Wigan and Leigh as well as to Bolton.
It was one of a number of organisations which were invited to tender by Wigan Council. The Trust has been providing HIV, sexual health and reproductive services for the past five years from Wigan town centre, and at Leigh, as well as several places in the community including colleges. The Trust’s sexual health team also provides services at the Royal Bolton Hospital and centres in the community in Bolton.
Dr Emile Morgan, Clinical Lead for Sexual Health at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, said he was delighted that the service had been successful in its bid.
He said: “It is good for the users of our services that there will be continuity of care and that this will remain within the NHS. As a team we pride ourselves on being very patient focussed and score very highly on patient satisfaction. I think this, along with the fact that we always work closely with our commissioners, helped us win the bid. We’re delighted that Wigan Council has continued to put their trust in us. ”
The new contract means that the Trust will provide the services in Wigan and Leigh for the next three to five years.
