The Born to Safe Hands 2014 conference, organised by Bolton NHS Foundation Trust’s Maternity Department, was a huge success with 200 delegates attending from all over the UK. We had well-known speakers from the world of midwifery, including Cathy Warwick and Professor Soo Downe, and the event was closed by our Associate Medical Director, Miss Karen Bancroft.
The conference trended on twitter (#b2sh) with over 2000 tweets on the day and an impact of over 2 million. Next year’s event is themed ‘Challenges in maternity care in a changing world’ and will include discussions and debates on some of the everyday challenges we face as midwives and obstetricians as we strive to promote normality. We again have some wonderful speakers booked: Professor Cecily Begley from Ireland and Susan Bewley, Professor of Complex Obstetrics who was on the Guideline Development Group for the new NICE Intrapartum guidelines, to name just a few. We are holding the event at the same venue: Bolton Whites Hotel, Macron Stadium, Bolton on the 27th March 2015. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to book a place.
