Midwife shortlisted for Royal College of Midwives Award

Congratulations to one of our midwives, Martine Bayliss, who has been shortlisted for a Royal College of Midwives (RCM) Award. Martine has been shortlisted in the Thompsons Members’ Champion Award for her work as an RCM representative in the workplace. The awards ceremony will take place on 6th March.

Gill Walton, Chief Executive of the Royal College of Midwives, said: “The standard of entries has been extremely high so to get this far is an outstanding achievement. It shows how much good work and partnership between union representatives and employers is going on in our maternity services for the benefit of staff and ultimately the women they care for, and how hard midwives, maternity support workers and the wider maternity team are working to deliver the safest and best possible care. I wish Martine and the whole team the best of luck at the awards ceremony in March.”

Stephen Cavalier, Chief Executive of Thompsons Solicitors, who sponsor the award, said: “Well done to the RCM representatives shortlisted who play a vital role in representing and supporting other midwives and ensuring that their rights are protected in the workplace. We are delighted once again to sponsor this award which recognises the fantastic contribution of RCM members’ champions like Martine and look forward to meeting her at the awards ceremony next year.”
