Fiona Noden appointed as Chief Executive

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust Board has appointed Fiona Noden as its next Chief Executive.

Fiona, who comes originally from Bolton, is currently the Chief Operating Officer at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.  During her four-and-a-half years in this role, she has led all areas of operations, achieving improvements in cancer services for patients. She has also led the design and delivery of improvement and transformation projects – both within the Trust; in partnership with others in the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership and with external commercial organisations.  She has also served as the elected Chair to the Greater Manchester Chief Operating Officers Committee for the last six years.

Fiona Noden Chief ExecFiona started her career as a Radiographer in 1988, transferring into operational managerial roles after several successful secondments in specialist advisory roles to regional and national professional bodies.  She went on to hold senior positions including Divisional Director of Operations at Salford Royal Foundation Trust and Director of Operations and Performance at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Foundation Trust, before joining the Board at The Christie in 2015.

Fiona said: “It has been a pleasure to serve as Chief Operating Officer at The Christie and a privilege to work alongside some of the best health professionals in the Country. I am very proud of what we have achieved together during my time here.   However, the opportunity to lead acute and community services in the town I was born and brought up in was too good an opportunity to pass by.  Bolton NHS Foundation Trust has a great reputation and its values fit closely with my own personal beliefs.  The Trust is in a strong position and knows what it wants to achieve. I look forward to leading the Bolton team to realise its new ambitions”

Donna Hall, Chair of Bolton NHS Foundation Trust said: “As a fellow Boltonian I am really looking forward to welcoming Fiona to Bolton NHS Foundation Trust. I know that she is as passionate about our town as we are.   With a proven track record in successfully managing performance, finance and transformation, I believe she has exactly the right experience, skills and values we were looking for to help achieve the ambitions we’ve set out in our new strategy – to move us to a position of excellence”.

Fiona will take up the position on 1 April 2020 after current Chief Executive Dr Jackie Bene leaves the role.
