Leading physician awarded title Professor of Medicine

Congratulations to Dr Ambar Basu, who has been awarded the title of Professor of Medicine at the University of Bolton.

Dr Basu is a consultant physician in diabetes and endocrinology at the Trust, and has played a leading part in developing the role of physician associate with the university.

This has been a very successful piece of work, which has led to the appointment of three physician associates within the Trust, who support doctors in the diagnosis and management of patients. More are being introduced to the organisation shortly.

Dr Basu said:

“I am truly honoured and humbled by this title award. This will enthuse me further to strengthen the collaborative work between the Trust and the University of Bolton.”

Professor Patrick McGhee, Chair of the University Professorial and Readership Committee at the University of Bolton said:

“I would like to congratulate Dr Basu on this outcome and welcome him to the University of Bolton family.”

Dr Basu’s title will officially take effect from Saturday, 13th February.
