Family members to take part in Great North Run to raise funds for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Emilia Jayne was born on Christmas Day 2020, seven weeks premature weighing just 4lbs 5oz. On arrival at the hospital, Emilia’s mum was diagnosed with COVID-19 and, soon after her birth, Emilia also received a positive diagnosis. Not only did the Bolton NICU team provide an amazing level of clinical care to both Emilia and her mum, but they also provided incredible emotional and psychological support to the whole family during a particularly difficult and stressful time. It is this kindness and support that inspired Emilia’s Auntie Steph and her partner Alex to sign up for the Great North Run in aid of Bolton NHS Charitable Fund with all funds raised benefiting the Bolton Neonatal Unit.

Having already increased their fundraising target twice, Steph and Alex have their sights firmly on raising £1,000 as a thank you to the staff on NICU for everything they did for Emilia and the family. We are delighted to report that Emilia is doing well and according to Auntie Steph, ‘living life to its fullest’.
