Professional Background

Dr Khurana gained an MBBS in 2002 from the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, India and then continued her studies in the UK where she became a member of the Royal College of Physicians, London in 2006.

She completed the first half of her registrar rotation in Sheffield, working at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Northern General Hospital and Royal Hallamshire Hospital before moving to Manchester in 2010. Dr Khurana completed her MD on phenotyping in COPD at the University of Manchester in 2013 and has also worked at Manchester Royal Infirmary, University Hospital of South Manchester and North Manchester General Hospital.

She came to work at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust in June 2014 and is a professional member of the British Thoracic Society and Mucopolysaccharidoses Society.

Special Interests and Research

Special interests: Pleural disease and asthma.

Research: Completed an MD on ‘Clinical characteristics and airway inflammation in COPD persistent sputum producers’ at the University of Manchester in 2013.

The award-winning respiratory service provides inpatient and outpatient services to all patients with respiratory disease, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, tuberculosis and lung cancer. The respiratory service offers full hospital services, supported by colleagues from The Christie and Wythenshawe and by a team of specialist nurses which provides a seven day service to both inpatients and outpatients, as well as home visits as required.
