Walk-in vaccination clinics

Walk-in vaccination clinics

Coronavirus (Covid-19) is still circulating in Bolton.

If you are an older person, have an underlying health condition or you’re pregnant, Covid-19 is more likely to make you seriously ill.

If you’re eligible, make sure to protect yourself and the people around you by getting vaccinated.

The NHS in Bolton is making it as easy as possible for people to get their Covid-19 jabs.

There are a number of walk-in vaccination clinics for eligible people in the borough. No appointment is needed. You can also book an appointment on the NHS Covid-19 vaccination National Booking System or ring 119.

First and second doses are available for people aged five and over – please check individual clinics details to see which ages can attend. Under-16s must be accompanied by a parent/carer to give consent.

The Covid-19 booster vaccination programme has now been paused, and booster jabs are no longer available.

There may be a seasonal booster available later this year. If you are eligible for this, the NHS will contact you when it’s your turn to get vaccinated.

Visit the NHS website for more information about Covid-19 vaccination.

  • People aged 5 and over (on or before 31 August 2022) can get a primary vaccination dose – 1st and 2nd dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
  • Children who turned 5 on or after 1 September 2022 can only get a 1st and 2nd dose of a Covid-19 vaccine if they’re either:
    • at high risk due to a health condition or because of a weakened immune system
    • living with someone who has a weakened immune system

If you’ve not had a 1st or 2nd dose yet, it is not too late to get them.

Once you’ve had your 1st dose you need to wait several weeks before getting your 2nd dose of the Covid-19 vaccination as follows:

  • 8 weeks (56 days) if you’re aged 18 or over
  • 12 weeks (84 days) if you or your child are aged 5 to 17
  • 8 weeks (56 days) if you or your child are aged 5 to 17 and at high risk from Covid-19

You’ll need to wait a number of weeks before having the vaccine as follows:

  • Four weeks (28 days) for people aged 18 years old or over
  • 12 weeks (84 days) for five to 17 years old
  • Four weeks (28 days) for five to 17 years old who are at high risk from Covid-19, or live with someone who has a weakened immune system

This starts from the date that symptoms started, or the date of the positive test result, whichever was earlier.
