Professional background

Mr James Warner is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon specialising in surgery of the upper limb (shoulder to hand). He performs both arthroscopic (keyhole) and open surgery of the upper limb including joint replacement, stabilisation procedures, nerve decompression, carpal tunnel decompressions and joint contracture release. He has a particular interest in upper limb trauma (soft tissue injuries and fractures) and specialises in upper limb fracture fixation.

Mr Warner qualified from St. Andrews (1984) and Manchester Universities (1987) before embarking on his surgical training in the North West. His final fellowship year consisted of a 6 month National Fellowship in Hand Surgery in Manchester and a 6 month fellowship in the Upper Limb Unit at Wrightington Hospital.

Mr Warner has been a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at the Royal Bolton Hospital and BMI Beaumont Hospital in Bolton since 1st October 1998.

Special interests and research

In his consultant practice he has travelled to visit other surgeons in Europe who are recognised as national and international experts in their field.

Mr Warner is involved in research and his work has been presented at regional and national meetings. His is currently involved in research into wrist fracture fixation. He is a member of the British Hand Society and the North West Shoulder and Elbow and North West Hand Societies.
