Health Visiting

Every family with a child under the age of five in Bolton has access to a health visitor and their team. The service is delivered through home visits, contact in the community and telephone calls as necessary.

All families will be offered the following contacts from a member of our team:

  • Antenatal contact (after 28 weeks gestation)
  • New Birth Visit (10-14 days post-delivery)
  • 6-8 Week Visit
  • 9-12 Month Assessment
  • 2-2.5 Year Assessment

For families who are new to Bolton, as soon as we are notified we will make an initial contact with you within 5 working days to offer a home visit.

The aim of our service is to promote the health and well-being of you and your family. In addition to the set contacts described above, Healthy Child drop-in clinics for well babies and children are provided in various venues across Bolton including Children’s Centres, Health Centres and community buildings. (Is it possible to link this to the list of clinics?)

Health visitors work with other services such as GPs, midwives, school nurses and social workers. Our Health visiting team consists of health visitors, community staff nurses, community nursery nurses, link workers and team assistants.
