Will visits be confidential?

At your first appointment you or your child (if over 16), will be asked to sign a consent form to say who you have agreed that we can talk with to help your child’s treatment.  We may contact these people to gather or share relevant information about your child and their problems.  This usually includes your GP and any services or family members closely involved with your child, such as school, college, school nurses, social workers and youth offending workers.

We will not discuss a child or young person’s details with anyone else unless there are exceptional circumstances.

The only exception to this is if we believe that a person is at great risk.  But if this happens, we will always try to speak to you and your child first.

If you have any questions about confidentiality you can ask your CAMHS worker at any time.
