What happens when you are 18?

Young people can be seen in CAMHS until their 18th birthday.  After this you can get the help that you need from adult mental health services.

If you are being seen in CAMHS when you are 17, your CAMHS worker will help you to plan your move to adult services, as well as supporting you with your current difficulties.

Your CAMHS worker will make sure that your care is transferred to the right service, so that you know who your new worker will be in plenty of time and to help you get used to the change.

If it is felt adult mental health services is not for you, your worker will help you to find out what other local services can support you. They may also help you to contact these other services.
