Take part in research
Every breakthrough in healthcare starts with someone saying “Yes, I’ll help.”
By taking part in research, you can help shape the treatments, knowledge and care that will support future generations, in Bolton and far beyond.
Research isn’t just for scientists.
It’s for people like you: patients, families, carers, volunteers, and staff.
Your involvement, whether big or small, helps us discover better treatments, prevent illness and improve the care we give every day.
Why your involvement matters
When you take part in research, you are:
- Helping create better treatments and faster diagnoses
- Supporting discoveries that could save lives
- Improving care for people who may face the same condition
- Leaving a positive impact on your family and your community
- Playing a key role in shaping the future of the NHS
Research happening right now
We run studies in many areas, including cancer, respiratory health, surgery, children’s services, reproductive health, infectious diseases and more.
Who can take part?
Anyone.
You don’t need to be ill. You don’t need special skills.
You can get involved as:
- A patient
- A healthy volunteer
- A relative or carer
- A member of staff
You may be approached on the ward, in clinic, or hear from our team if a study could benefit you.
How we support you
Our Research Delivery Team includes experienced research nurses, practitioners and administrators who guide you every step of the way.
We’ll explain the study clearly, answer your questions and give you time to decide.
Taking part is always voluntary, and saying no will never affect the care you receive.
Want to explore more?
You can also look for opportunities nationally through Be Part of Research, where anyone can sign up and choose the health areas they care about.
