Whether you are visiting one of our community health centres or coming to Royal Bolton Hospital, this section will help you understand what to expect during your time with us.

We kindly ask all visitors to take simple precautions to help keep our patients, staff and other visitors safe.

Please do not visit if you are feeling unwell, especially if you have symptoms of respiratory illnesses such as COVID 19 or flu, or any sickness and diarrhoea or other infections.

To help reduce the spread of germs, please clean your hands when entering our buildings, especially before visiting wards or clinical areas. Hand cleaning facilities are available at all clinical entrances. Keeping hands clean helps protect everyone from infection, and we really appreciate your support.

Visiting someone in hospital

We’re pleased to offer open visiting so people can spend time with their loved ones while they are staying at Royal Bolton Hospital.

Staying well if you’re waiting for treatment

While awaiting treatment, you can take simple steps to support your physical and emotional wellbeing.

Returning equipment

Please return any NHS equipment you’ve been loaned so we can get it to another patient.

Information for overseas visitors

If you’re visiting the UK or have been living outside the country, you may be required to pay for NHS treatment.

Where we have a mobile phone number for you, we will send your outpatient appointment letters digitally to view on your phone.

Pharmacy services at Royal Bolton Hospital

If you are given a prescription at your appointment, you can collect your medicines from our on site pharmacy in the Main Entrance.

Outpatient appointments take place at clinics and health centres across Bolton, and at Royal Bolton Hospital.

Going home after a hospital stay

Home is usually the best and safest place to recover, so we start planning your discharge with you as soon as you come into hospital.

If you’re part of the Armed Forces community, we’re here to support you when you access healthcare.

Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC)

We are committed to fully removing all RAAC from our estate for the safety of staff, patients and visitors.

You can make a payment directly to our Finance department using GOV.UK Pay.

PIFU gives you more control over when you are seen by one of our specialist teams.
