The Equality Act 2010
The Equality Act 2010 ensures individuals have equal treatment in employment and access to private and public sector services regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership and pregnancy and maternity.
In line with the Equality Act 2010, there is a duty for all public bodies to consider how their decisions and activities as a service provider and employer affect people who share different protected characteristics covering:
- Age
- Disability
- Gender
- Marriage and Civil Partnership
- Pregnancy and Maternity
- Race, including ethnic or national origins, colour or nationality
- Religion or belief
- Sex
- Sexual orientation
