Dr Gbegbaje has previously worked at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, Manchester Royal Infirmary – Central Manchester Foundation Trust and University Hospital of South Manchester, Wythenshawe. She came to work at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust in 2008.

Special interests and research
Dr Gbegbaje has special interests in lipidology, cardiovascular risk assessment and clinical nutrition – medical management of obesity.
She has also participated in research into general chemical pathology, lipids and management of morbid obesity.
