- FABB Awards 2026 celebrates teams and individuals providing exceptional care
People in Bolton are invited to nominate NHS and healthcare workers who have provided exceptional care in the past twelve months for Bolton NHS Foundation Trust’s annual FABB Awards.
The special night of recognition celebrates the teams and individuals who are making a difference in the lives of Bolton’s communities by improving their health and wellbeing.
The People’s Choice Award is back for 2026, offering an opportunity for patients, relatives, and carers to recognise the individual or team who has made a lasting impact on their lives.
The nominee should have:
- Made a lasting difference: Significantly impacted the life of a patient or family member.
- Provided comfort in difficult times: Helped patients and families through challenging moments with compassion and care.
- Delivered exceptional care: Demonstrated extraordinary care that went above and beyond expectations.
People can make their People’s Choice Award nominations online using this link or using the form below. Nominations will close at 5pm on Friday 3 July 2026.
James Mawrey, Chief People Officer and Deputy Chief Executive, said:
“Being able to recognise the incredible work of our NHS and healthcare teams at the FABB Awards is always a highlight of the year.
“The heartfelt nominations from the public fill us all with pride as we read about the last difference our colleagues have on the lives of patients, offering compassion, care and support every step of the way, during what can be some of the most worrying times in their lives.
“If you have received exceptional care in the past year and would like to say thanks to the NHS, whether that’s out in our communities or at Royal Bolton Hospital, please do consider submitting a nomination for our People’s Choice Award and help us celebrate their great work.”

At last year’s FABB Awards, Dr Tarek Al-Badawi won the People’s Choice Award after Yvonne Makin nominated him for the “lasting difference” he made on both her and her husband’s lives:
“I experienced several hospital admissions where Dr. Tarek not only remembered my name but also understood the ongoing issues I was facing. He always took the time to listen, explain, and offer reassurance. His recognition and empathy made me feel safe and truly cared for during a very difficult time.
“What made an even greater impact was when my husband was admitted. Despite the chaos of a busy Emergency Department, Dr. Tarek came over to check on us both. His calm presence and genuine concern helped ease our fear and uncertainty. Dr. Tarek doesn’t just provide excellent medical care – he brings a human touch that is rare and deeply appreciated.
“He treats his patients as individuals, not just cases, and always goes above and beyond to ensure they feel supported. We are incredibly grateful to him for the kindness, professionalism, and exceptional care he has shown us. His actions have left a lasting impression on our lives, and we believe he truly deserves recognition for the difference he makes, not just as a doctor, but as a compassionate and dedicated human being.”
The winners will be announced at a fully-sponsored awards ceremony at the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Friday 9 October 2026.
