Our Governors
As an NHS Foundation Trust, we have a responsibility to our members, people who choose to stay connected to what we do here.
Members can be patients, local residents or staff, and they help us understand what our communities need from their local NHS organisation.
One way we do this is by through our Council of Governors, who represent the views of our patients, the public, staff and partners.
Our Governors build relationships with our members and share their views with the Board of Directors, who are responsible for running the Trust and shaping our future plans. In simple terms, Governors act as an “ear and a voice” for our communities, making sure that what matters to members is heard and considered in the Board’s decisions.
They get involved in conversations about new services, how we recruit and involve members, and they receive our annual report and accounts. However, Governors don’t deal with individual patient complaints or staff concerns.
Here in Bolton, we’re proud to have a dedicated Council of Governors who care deeply about helping to shape how our services develop, for the benefit of both our patients and our staff.
Councils of Governors include elected Public and Staff Governors, and Appointed Partner Governors. Public Governors always form the majority.
