Mr Abdallah Sharqawi

Consultant, Urological Surgeon

Mr Abdallah Sharqawi joined the Trust in November 2020. Mr Abdallah Sharqawi is a Consultant Urological Surgeon specialising in Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) and complex urethral reconstruction. Since helping establish the HoLEP service at Bolton in 2021, he now receives referrals from across the entire North West, managing some of the region’s largest and most challenging prostates. He also provides advanced HoLEP training for senior urology trainees, many of whom competitively apply for this high-volume attachment.

In addition to HoLEP, Mr Sharqawi offers a range of minimally invasive treatments for benign prostate enlargement, ensuring patients have access to modern, personalised options suited to their symptoms and prostate anatomy.

He also established Bolton’s comprehensive urethral reconstruction service and he is among a very small number of surgeons in the UK capable of performing the full spectrum of urethroplasty techniques, and the only surgeon in the North West offering comprehensive reconstructive options. He treats urethral stricture disease using approaches from minimally invasive endoscopic procedures like Optilume to complex open reconstruction, including oral mucosal grafts.

Alongside his subspecialist work, he undertakes the complete spectrum of core urology procedures, including comprehensive diagnostic services, all types f stone management, and the full breadth of bladder and prostate cancer care.

He is consistently recognised by patients and colleagues for his compassionate, patient-centred approach and his commitment to going the extra mile to ensure high-quality care.
