Mr Amir Iskandar is an SAS Colorectal and General Surgeon with extensive experience in the management of colorectal and general surgical conditions in both the United Kingdom and Egypt. He graduated with honours (MBBCh Hons) from Ain Shams University, one of Egypt’s leading medical schools.
After completing his surgical training at Ain Shams University Hospitals, he was awarded both a Master of Science (MSc) and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in General Surgery. He was subsequently appointed as a Lecturer in General Surgery at Ain Shams University, where he combined clinical practice with undergraduate and postgraduate surgical education.
Mr Iskandar relocated to the United Kingdom in 2018 and joined Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust as a Senior SAS doctor in Colorectal and General Surgery. In 2023, he was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS). He joined Bolton NHS Foundation Trust in January 2024, where he has worked as both a Senior Specialist Registrar and a Locum Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon.
Special interests and research:
Mr Iskandar has a particular interest in minimally invasive colorectal surgery, including laparoscopic and robotic techniques. His clinical expertise includes the management of benign and malignant colorectal disease, pelvic floor disorders, and a wide range of general surgical conditions.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Iskandar is passionate about medical education and surgical training. He was awarded a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Medical Education with Merit from the University of Warwick and is actively involved in teaching and supervising medical students and surgical trainees. He also has a strong interest in clinical research and currently leads several research studies as a Principal Investigator at the Trust, contributing to the advancement of colorectal surgery and improved patient outcomes.
