- Boot Out Breast Cancer donates more than £10,000 to Royal Bolton Hospital’s Breast Unit
- Donation will go towards specialist equipment that supports same-day breast cancer diagnosis
- The charity has supported the Unit for more than 10 years and raised more than £100,000
A leading breast cancer charity that has long supported Royal Bolton Hospital’s Breast Unit has raised thousands of pounds to help fund vital new equipment to help with the diagnosis of cancer.
Boot Out Breast Cancer has donated more than £10,000 to the Unit after hosting a Ladies Lunch at Rivington Hall Barn in Bolton earlier this year.
The donation will go towards specialist equipment that will allow people to receive a same-day diagnosis, reducing anxiety around waiting for results and speeding up access to life-saving treatment.
Debbie Dowie, Founder and Chair of Boot Out Breast Cancer, said:
“It has been a pleasure to support Royal Bolton Hospital. I was diagnosed in the hospital at Sunflower Suite 17 years ago and I decided to set up a charity. I’m proud to say in the past 16 years people have helped us to raise more than two million pounds.
“Following a conversation with the wonderful team, we’re hoping to support with funding of a contrast enhanced spectrum mammography kit, which will be a one-stop shop for ladies and gents. People will be diagnosed on the same day and they will know straight away, and it’s really important to us as a charity to know the latest gold-standard equipment is available here in Bolton.”
The charity has supported the Unit for more than a decade, raising more than £100,000 to help fund a range of items to improve patient experience and support staff with their life-saving work, which includes state-of-the-art equipment to support breast surgery, mammography chairs and ultrasound equipment.
Annette Trengrove, Senior Sister at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust’s Breast Unit, said:
“We are so grateful for the ongoing support from Debbie and Boot Out Breast Cancer. Their tireless fundraising is making a real difference in the lives of people in Bolton by making their experience in our Breast Unit more comfortable and improving their chances of being cured of breast cancer.
“These generous donations have allowed to us make improvements across the unit and to invest in cutting-edge technology that help identify signs of cancer and progress the treatments we’re able to offer.”
