- Dozens gathered at the Wave of Light service to remember babies gone too soon
- The service included readings, reflections and performances from the Trust’s staff choir
- Thank you to our supporters and volunteers
The Baby Memorial Garden at Royal Bolton Hospital was glowing last night (15 October) as dozens of people came together to light candles and remember the lives of babies who sadly died during pregnancy, at birth, or in infancy.
Bolton NHS Foundation Trust’s Wave of Light service is held every year to mark the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week.
It was a gentle evening for people to focus on remembrance, love and hope. During the Wave of Light at 7pm, people around the world lit candles in memory of babies gone too soon.
During the service, Deputy Head Chaplain, Reverend Catherine Binns, said:
“We gather here under the open sky to remember the babies who are no longer with us, to honour their lives, and to support one another in love and solidarity.
“This is a space for all – whatever your beliefs, background, or experience. We are surrounded by nature, by light and by love. Tonight, we remember.”

The Trust’s staff choir performed the songs ‘Carry the Light’ and ‘Peace Like a River’, whilst poems, reflections and words of comfort were read aloud.
