Dr Halstead graduated from Dundee University in 1986 and completed her specialty training in the North West. She was appointed as a consultant physician in general and geriatric medicine at the Royal Bolton Hospital in January 2000.
One of Dr Halsteads’ specialist interests is in stroke medicine and she became Lead Clinician for Stroke in 2001.
She also has an interest in medical education and training, particularly for specialist registrars in geriatric medicine. She was actively involved in the development of the MSc in geriatric medicine at Salford University and was an honorary lecturer there from 2001 to 2010.
