Professional Background

Miss Volleamere obtained a Biological Sciences with honours degree from the University of Manchester in 1995 and then went on to complete her medical degree at the University of Glasgow Medical School in 2000.

She carried out her higher surgical training in hospitals across the North West, predominantly in the Greater Manchester area and in 2014 completed a National Reconstructive Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship at St James University Hospital, Leeds, specialising in oncoplastic, reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery.

In 2011, Miss Volleamere worked in Bolton Breast Unit and she was very impressed with the training and mentorship. The professionalism and dedication of the team at Bolton left an impression on her, resulting in her desire to return to the unit as a consultant in June 2014. Miss Volleamere has also been the Joint Clinical Lead for Breast Services since September 2015.

She is a professional member of the Medical Defence Union, the Association of Breast Surgeons and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow.

Special Interests and Research

Miss Volleamere has special interests in breast cancer care, diagnosis and surgery, breast reconstruction using latissimus dorsi flap (back muscle), implant based reconstructions, lipomodelling and symmetrising surgery.

Publications

Miss Volleamere has multiple articles published in peer reviewed journals focusing on breast cancer care and reconstruction, with many having been presented at National and International Breast Surgical Conferences.

The Breast Unit offers a wide range of high quality services for all patients with breast problems and is also the centre for the Bolton, Bury and Rochdale Breast Screening Programme. All care is patient-centred and is delivered within a supportive environment by a team of experts, who are all specialists within their own field.
