Mr Onwudike qualified in Ibadan, Nigeria. His higher surgical training in both general and vascular surgery was centred in London within the North East Thames Deanery. He was a research registrar in vascular surgery at the Hammersmith Hospital and specialist registrar in the vascular units of Whipps Cross Hospital, University College London Hospitals, St Bartholomew and Royal London Hospitals.
Mr Onwudike also benefited from a fellowship in endovascular surgery at Foundation Hospital Marseille, France.

Mr Onwudike has a special interest in:
• Hernias (including laparoscopic hernia repairs)
• Gallstones (laparoscopic cholecystectomy)
• Hyperhidrosis and facial blushing
• Varicose and thread veins
• Facial veins
• Carotid surgery (stroke prevention)
Mr Onwudike has published several papers and reviews and also presented in national and international meetings.

Mr Madu Onwudike works in the following services:
Our General Surgery Department has a high volume of emergency admissions, with short length of stay for surgical patients. The department provides a variety of complex upper gastrointestinal and colorectal surgeries including for some types of cancer, and a variety of laparoscopic (keyhole) surgeries, both planned and emergency cases. There is also a Vascular Department on site that deals with complex vascular (blood vessel) problems. The hospital provides surgery for children however newborn babies are referred to Central Manchester Children’s Hospital if they need surgery.
