Call for volunteers in Bolton

Macmillan’s Cancer Information & Support Service in Bolton is calling for volunteers to help local patients, carers and families affected by cancer.

The service is co – produced and has 4 strategic partners Macmillan, Bolton Hospice, Bolton People Affected by Cancer (PAC) and NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care, these services work together deliver a Cancer Information and Support Service. The service also works closely with NHS Bolton Foundation Trust and Bolton Council.

Over the last eight years the service has grown, and it now needs to recruit more volunteers to join the existing team of fantastic volunteers.

The service is delivered over three sites in Bolton and provides information, advice and support to people affected by cancer, including benefits advice.

The Macmillan Centre at Royal Bolton Hospital is looking for volunteers.

We have four sessions currently available – Monday 10am -1pm, Tuesday 1pm – 4pm and Friday 10am – 1pm & 1pm – 4pm. Can you cover one of these? Do you have 4 hours a week to spare?

The role will include keeping information and leaflets well stocked, promoting the service, ensuring the centres are welcoming and supportive, and providing a listening ear.

Volunteers will need to have good communication skills and basic administration experience would also be beneficial. Full training is provided, this is done over two days.
