  • £4.7 million to be invested at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust to carry out estate improvements
  • Funding will help upgrade energy systems and ventilation systems to be greener and more sustainable
  • Investment part of £750 million funding package from Department for Health and Social Care

£4.7 million in funding is set to be invested at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust to help carry out vital improvement works on its estate and buildings.

It’s part of a £750 million funding package from the Department for Health and Social Care to help the NHS tackle long-term problems, such as ventilation and electrical issues, to help prevent thousands of cancelled operations and appointments.

In Bolton, the investment will be used to make improvements to energy systems and ventilation systems.

Annette Walker, Chief Finance Officer at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, said:

Some parts of our hospital estate are many decades old and require significant investment to tackle ongoing maintenance issues.

“This multi-million pound funding will allow us begin repairs and upgrades in the areas that need it most, to help us make sure we’re able to continue delivering safe and high quality care for people in Bolton for years to come.

“As we continue to improve how we design and use our estate, it’s one of our key ambitions to invest in greener and more sustainable systems that reduce our carbon footprint and help protect the environment for our local communities.
