It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Royal Bolton Hospital

  • Christmas trees delivered at Royal Bolton Hospital thanks to donation from Robertson Construction
  • Patients, staff and public invited to light switch-on this Friday 5 December, 4pm
  • People will have opportunity to support Our Bolton NHS Charity through appeal and Christmas cards

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Royal Bolton Hospital as this year’s Christmas trees are delivered and installed across the site.

The annual Christmas light switch-on will be taking place outside the main entrance of Royal Bolton Hospital at 4pm on Friday 5 December.

Special guests include the Mayor of Bolton, who has chosen to support the Critical Care specialty fund through Our Bolton NHS Charity as one of his chosen causes, and the Bereavement Nursing Team who won Bolton NHS Foundation Trust’s Dream Team Award at this year’s FABB Awards.

Robertson Construction, who are currently working on the £38 million redevelopment of the Maternity and Women’s Health Unit, have kindly sponsored the trees through their ongoing support of Our Bolton NHS Charity.

Refreshments from Carrs Pasties will be available, courtesy of Geoffrey Robinson, and there will be live music to help kick start the Trust’s Christmas celebrations.

There will be a special visit from Santa Claus, who will be giving his reindeers a well-deserved day off and arriving in style thanks to EFT Construction.

The Trust’s estates and facilities teams at iFM Bolton have been working hard to install the trees and will be decorating the site so it’s looking festive for the lights switch-on.

People will have the opportunity to support Our Bolton NHS Charity’s Christmas appeal, which helps us fund vital medical equipment, create welcoming and calming spaces, and enhance the patient experience for people of all ages, throughout the year.

For the first time, bespoke Our Bolton NHS Charity Christmas cards will be available to buy, including at this year’s light switch-on. For a minimum donation of £5, people will receive a pack of ten Christmas cards to send to friends, family and colleagues across Bolton, Greater Manchester and beyond.

Sarah Skinner, Charity Manager at Our Bolton NHS Charity, said:

This Christmas, we’re raising funds to ensure patients, service-users and their families receive the best possible care, in the right place, all year round.

“Donations help us provide advanced medical equipment, improve facilities, and enhance support, all of which make a huge difference to a person’s experience of our services, whether that’s in hospital, out in the community or in the place they call home.

“There are many ways to get involved with Our Bolton NHS Charity this year. Whether you’re helping spread awareness, raising funds, or joining in a bit of festive fun, you’re helping create a brighter Christmas for patients, families and colleagues. Thank you so much.
