Professional Background

Dr Oakden trained at St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London School of Medicine, graduating in 2010. He completed post-graduate training in London and throughout the North West, becoming a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in February 2022.

Special Interests and Research

My specialist interests include provision of Anaesthesia for patients with Learning Difficulties, Special Care Dentistry, Regional Anaesthesia for Upper Limb Surgery and Difficult Airways.

I am Clinical Lead for Critical Care Outreach Services at Royal Bolton Hospital, with a focus on Patient Safety and Patient Transfer. I am also Clinical Lead for Organ Donation Services.

I have a particular interest in post-graduate Medical Education, previously undertaking a Fellowship in Medical Education.
