Professional background

Miss Garnsey studied for a MBChB at the University of Edinburgh and then completed her basic surgical training in Scotland and Manchester from 2002 to 2007. She did her higher surgical training from 2007 to 2012 within the North Western Deanery and then gained a fellowship in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery at the Royal Marsden Hospital where she worked in 2013.

Miss Garnsey was appointed as a consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon at the Royal Bolton Hospital in October 2013 and has been the Joint Clinical Lead for Breast Services since September 2015.

Special interests and research

Miss Garnsey’s special interests are the diagnosis and surgical treatment of symptomatic and screen-detected breast cancer including oncoplastic techniques, therapeutic mammoplasty, and breast reconstruction.

Publications

Miss Garnsey has presented and published work on reducing length of hospital stay for patients with breast cancer, reducing implant infection, improving pre-operative patient information and improving the quality of documentation in medical notes.
