Mr Patrick Watmough

Professional background

Mr Watmough studied at the University of Dundee obtaining a MBChB in 1996, during which time he took a year out to study forensic medicine obtaining a BMSc Forensic Medicine in 1993. After this he undertook his higher surgical training in the North West of England. He became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1999, and then an Intercollegiate Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2005 and was awarded the certificate of completion of specialist surgical training in 2008. During his last year of training he undertook a Fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at Wrightington working closely with one of the co-designers of modern ankle replacements.

Mr Watmough was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Royal Bolton Hospital in January 2009. He is part of Bolton Orthopaedic and Sports Surgery (BOSS), who are a team of nine local consultant orthopaedic surgeons who joined forces in 2007 to offer a comprehensive service for patients with bone, joint and sports injury problems. BOSS is able to offer prompt, expert assessment, and planned treatment for any orthopaedic condition.

Special interests and research

Mr Watmough has special interests in lower limb surgery, especially all aspects of foot and ankle surgery, knee and ankle arthroscopy and hip and knee replacement.
