Anticoagulant Service

The anticoagulant service is a nurse led community service which is responsible for the monitoring and management of people who take oral anticoagulant drugs. The aim is to work with patients, carers and other health care professionals to improve the safety of these patients. The service offers specialist advice on all issues related to anticoagulant therapies.


The anticoagulant service is responsible for monitoring approximately 3500 patients in the community in Bolton who have been prescribed oral anticoagulant medications, such as warfarin, by their GP.
