Special Interests and Research
Dr Sankar has a special interest in paediatric diabetes.
Dr Vengudi Sankar works in the following services:
The children’s outpatients service is delivered from a child friendly and welcoming department based at Bolton One. Children are seen by consultant paediatricians who work as part of a team of professionals including experienced children’s nurses, play specialists, allied practitioners, support workers and clerical staff. Apart from general paediatric clinics, there are various other clinics, phlebotomy (blood testing) clinics and some day case investigation and specialist immunisation services.
We offer fantastic facilities for children aged 0 to 16 years who are admitted to the Royal Bolton Hospital, including modern wards, play areas and a number of individual rooms with en-suite shower rooms. Every bed has an accompanying portable bed, enabling a parent to stay with their child.
The diabetes service for children and young people provides support and treatment for people living with diabetes normally up to the age of 16 or 17 years old, but in some cases individuals can be seen up to the age of 19. We work closely with our patients and their families to help them manage their condition and lead a healthy life.
