Bolton’s Inflammatory Bowel Disease team wins at Greater Manchester Health and Care Research Awards

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust’s Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) team has won a key award at the Greater Manchester Health and Care Research Awards.

The IBD team picked up the ‘Outstanding Achievement by a Team – Study Delivery Award’ for their invaluable contribution to research by recruiting dozens of patients to successfully investigate ways of improving health outcomes.

The awards celebrate those who have delivered high quality research studies over the past year, with almost 200 nominations from across Greater Manchester, East Cheshire and East Lancashire.

The award winners were revealed last night (Thursday 29th September) during a ceremony at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

Francis Andrews, Medical Director at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, commented:

I am incredibly proud of all the team, who despite a heavy workload, always take the time to discuss new studies that will have a positive outcome for our current and future patients.

“They are always keen to involve research in every patient’s journey, and their strong patient focus and collaborative approach means we are able to provide the highest level of quality research here in Bolton.

“This award is great recognition for their determination, focus, and care and I would like to congratulate each and every one of them.

Kat Rhead was shortlisted for for Exceptional Research Delivery Leadership

Kat Rhead, Research Practitioner at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, was also shortlisted for Exceptional Research Delivery Leadership for her delivery of women’s health studies.

Sarah Fallon, Chief Operating Officer for NIHR Clinical Research Network Greater Manchester, said:

Our judges were highly impressed by the standard of nominations, which demonstrated the excellent quality and wide variety of research being delivered across health, care and community settings in our region.

For the fourth year running Bolton NHS Foundation Trust scored highest in the NHS Staff Survey as the best place to work in Greater Manchester.
