Our condolences following the death of Her Majesty the Queen

On behalf of the NHS in Bolton and Greater Manchester, we extend our heartfelt sympathy and sincerest condolences to all the Royal Family.

Statement from Fiona Noden, Chief Executive of Bolton NHS Foundation Trust:

I know I’m not alone in feeling incredibly sad about the death of Her Majesty The Queen.

“The Queen was an incredible woman who devoted so much of her life to public service and really appreciated the work we do in the NHS. She awarded us the George Cross earlier this year, for the compassion and courage shown over the last 74 years but particularly during the pandemic, and I know how much that meant to some of you.

“I know you will join me in offering heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the Royal Family who are mourning their family member, as well as our Queen. Such a significant death can trigger previous trauma, grief and other emotions so please continue to support each other, as I know you already will be.

“We are flying our hospital flag at half-mast as a mark of respect and are displaying a book of condolence at reception in the main entrance of our hospital. A digital book of condolence is also available at the Royal website for anyone who wants to share a message or pay respects.

Statement from Mark Fisher, chief executive of NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care:

It is with great sorrow that we have learned of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

“On behalf of the NHS in Greater Manchester, we extend our heartfelt sympathy and sincerest condolences to all the Royal Family. Throughout her life, Her Majesty the Queen served us all with unwavering loyalty, dedication and leadership; and her absence is something many of us will find difficult to accept.

“At this time, in addition to sharing a profound sense of loss, we recall with fondness the times we welcomed Her Majesty the Queen to Greater Manchester – opening new hospital wards, and the hand of friendship she extended to us after the Manchester Arena Attack. We were all moved by her visit and support to our city-region.

“We are honoured to have received such support from Her Majesty and will think of her visits with renewed warmth as we join the nation in mourning.

The flag outside the main entrance of Royal Bolton Hospital has been lowered to half-mast as a mark of respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

A Book of Condolence is open at the front desk of the hospital for staff, patients and visitors.
