New Mayor of Bolton pledges support to Our Bolton NHS Charity

The new Mayor of Bolton has selected Our Bolton NHS Charity as one of his three chosen charities to support during his term in office.

Councillor Mohammed Ayub will raise money for the official charity partner of Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, supporting the organisation to invest in a range of initiatives such as the latest medical equipment and improved patient and staff facilities.

Over the past twelve months, donations and funds raised from supporters have allowed the charity to:

  • Enhance the faith facilities at Royal Bolton Hospital
  • Purchase a medical gaming cart and sensory toys to entertain and distract young patients on the children’s ward
  • Fund bespoke counselling for individuals/couples who have experienced baby-loss during pregnancy, birth or shortly after birth
  • Redecorate waiting areas and family rooms to make hospital feel homelier and welcoming
  • Refurbish staff rest facilities so teams have comfortable and relaxing break areas

Councillor Mohammed Ayub, Mayor of Bolton, said:

I have chosen Our Bolton NHS Charity as one of my charities for my mayoral year because of the great work they do and having personal experience of Bolton NHS with my family.

“During my term of office, I hope to be able to help raise the profile of the work this charity does and help raise much needed funds.

Ayub was elected to Bolton Council in 2006 and has represented Great Lever Ward for the last 17 years, before receiving the chains of office earlier this month.

Sarah Skinner, Charity Manager at Our Bolton NHS Charity, added:

We’re incredibly touched and excited to be working with the Mayor during his tenure to help fund the things that make a lasting and meaningful difference to the people of Bolton, and beyond.

2023 also presents a very special opportunity to support your local NHS charity as the NHS celebrates its 75th anniversary on July 5.
