Nominations are open for people across Bolton to nominate health and care workers who have gone above and beyond to make a difference by providing outstanding care.
People can submit nominations in the ‘People’s Choice Award’ category at the 2024 FABB Awards, which recognise the hard work and dedication of staff at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.
This award is open to patients, relatives and carers who want to recognise a team or individual who has made a difference to their lives.

Fiona Noden, Chief Executive at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust and Bolton Place-Based Lead, said:
Our annual FABB Awards are a highlight of the year as we come together and celebrate the incredible contributions of health and care staff across Bolton.
“We know the past twelve months in the NHS haven’t been easy as we continue to face immense pressure, but I am sure many of us will have experienced care that made a difference and will want to say thank you to those who provided it.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank people across Bolton for the ongoing kindness and support they show to our staff. Please do take a few minutes to submit a nomination and help us celebrate our NHS.
Bolton NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of health and wellbeing services to the people of Bolton, delivering care at Royal Bolton Hospital, in the community at health centres and clinics, in people’s own homes, as well as services such as district nursing and intermediate care.
Last year’s People’s Choice Award winner was Sister Mary Hart, who received a standing ovation as her name was revealed.
One of Mary’s former patients, Joyce, sent in the nomination after she experienced first-hand Mary’s personal and human touch during a stay on the Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU).
In her nomination, Joyce wrote:
Sister Mary Hart looked after me when I came into hospital having previously collapsed at home.
“I didn’t know where I was for some time, but Mary helped nurse me back to health. She was kind, very knowledgeable, and most of all very caring.
“I was on the CDU for five days. I must say that all the staff there were very kind, but especially Mary who showed lots of compassion and nursing excellence. She is a very special lady.
“After a few days when I was feeling better she came in and gave me a hug and said ‘I’m so glad that you’re feeling better now’, which was just a human touch. I appreciated all that you did for me and my husband in those dark, dark days. You’re very much appreciated.
If you want to help recognise those who make a difference, the deadline for nominations has been extended to Wednesday 7 August.
