Dr Rafique trained in Yorkshire, West Midlands and the Northwest and completed his specialist training in respiratory medicine in district and teaching hospitals across Greater Manchester. He also worked as an Academic Teaching Fellow in Medical Education at the University of Sussex, and as a member of faculty at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
Dr Rafique came to work as a consultant at Bolton NHS FT in April 2017 and is a professional member of the British Thoracic Society, the European Respiratory Society and the National Junior Honour Society of the United States.
Dr Rafique has expertise across all aspects of general Respiratory Medicine with sub-specialist interest in lung cancer diagnostics and airway inflammation/diseases.
Dr. Rafique leads the EBUS (Endobronchial Ultrasound) and Bronchoscopy services for the department of Respiratory Medicine. He also has an interest in quality improvement in clinical care and represents the department in Governance and Mortality meetings. He is also associated with organising and facilitating teaching for medical students from the University of Manchester during their placement in Respiratory Medicine.
